Endemol Shine France and Black Sheep Films ink an exclusive deal

18/09/2018

Endemol Shine France has struck an exclusive codevelopment and coproduction deal with Black Sheep Films, covering the entirety of Black Sheep Films’ slate.

Created by Augustin Bernard and Mathieu Van de Velde in 2016, the company specializes in French and English language fiction targeting young adults and intended for local and international platforms and broadcasters.

Black Sheep Films productions include the multi-awarded “Patricia Moore” (9×12’) for Blackpills, which premiered in official competition at Series Mania earlier this year.

The partnership reinforces EndemolShine Fiction’s presence on the rapidly growing segment of young adults’s fiction, driven by OTT platforms and emerging digital players.

Nicolas Coppermann: “This partnership strengthens the development of our fiction strategy based on new talents whose potential can be multiplied by joining forces. Augustin Bernard and Mathieu Van de Velde have convinced us with their first achievements, an outstanding lineup and their approach of the market. The perspective to conquer new audiences through common projects is truly exciting.”

Augustin Bernard: “We are absolutely thrilled with this partnership with Nicolas Coppermann and the whole team at EndemolShine Fiction, as well as the trust placed upon us. We share the ambition to become a major content provider for teenage audiences. Black Sheep Films found its place organically within the group and we are impatient to quickly move forward together.”

Mathieu Van de Velde: “Audiences’ globalization is allowing us to develop original and local stories with incredibly high international potential, driven by a new generation of talents. As we increasingly transition into a nonlinear environment, being innovative in terms of stories, formats and distribution is an absolute prerequisite in order to reach our audience where it sits. In that regard, EndemolShine Fiction is an obvious partner and the group’s experience an invaluable asset.”
