MasterChef boosts Nordic presence with a bumper order of commissions

Endemol Shine Group today announced a raft of commissions in the Nordic territories for the global culinary hit series MasterChef.

Following a successful tenth season in Sweden TV4 have commissioned an 11th series of MasterChef for 2021. Last month the season ten finale reached its highest ever ratings in MasterChef Sweden’s 10-year, 150-episode history with 1.4 million viewers. Also commissioned by TV4 for a new run in Sweden is the accompanying spin-off version After Hours which gives eliminated contestants the opportunity to battle it out in front of one judge straight after the main competition.

Further to this, TV4 have commissioned Sweden’s first ever MasterChef All Stars, alongside a seventh series of MasterChef Junior which will air later this year.

In Norway, MasterChef will return to the Norwegian audience in a new home on Discovery’s TVNorge for a brand new series. To accompany the series, Discovery have also commissioned a brand-new digital extension MasterChef Leftovers (20×15’), for D-Play that will focus on cooking with the leftover food from the challenges in the main series.

In Finland, MTV3 the biggest commercial broadcaster has commissioned the first ever series of MasterChef: The Professionals which will air later this year. The channel is also the home for long-running success Ready Steady Cook also produced by Endemol Shine Finland.

And in Denmark, MasterChef on TV3 (Nent group) has shown some incredibly strong ratings with the current season doubling the channel’s primetime average.
