Global content creator, producer and distributor Endemol Shine Group today announced that hit Israeli drama Harem has been commissioned for a second season on Reshet 13.

Created and produced by Endemol Shine Israel for Reshet 13, Harem is Inspired by cults in Israel and the world, this fictional tale tells the exhilarating story of a charismatic mystic healer who lives in Tel Aviv with 20 wives, who birthed him more than 40 children.

The eight-part series made its international debut on Reshet 13 in February this year and was the most watched drama since the two main channels split in November 2017.

The new season will begin filming in 2019 and is created by Anat Barzilai, Hadar Galron and Gadi Taub.

Harem featured at Series Mania in Lille where it was among the International Panorama highlights. Endemol Shine International handle worldwide distribution.

Amir Ganor CEO at Endemol Shine Israel says; “Harem explores the phenomenon of cults and has contemporary themes of family and belonging at its heart. It’s a modern, compelling story which left audiences in Israel gripped and we’re thrilled Reshet have given us the opportunity to explore the characters and ideas even further.”

Erez Ben Harush, VP of Content at Reshet 13 adds; “Harem is a drama with a complex and shocking story inspired by cults in Israel and other countries. The creative staff succeeded in shaping an outcry over the situation of women around the world, discussing painful issues that unfortunately still exist in many places. Harem has a very compassionate, mostly feminine and brave cast, full of talent and subtle directing. I have no doubt that Harem’s intensity will inspire discussions in every society in the world”.

Endemol Shine Israel’s drama productions are led by Head of Drama Gal Zaid. Recent and forthcoming credits include Orpheus Project, a daily drama for HOT which was adapted in the Netherlands, Mossad 101, a thrilling drama for Reshet which aired on Netflix and NEVSU, a popular comedy series for Reshet which is being adapted for a pilot in the US for Lee Daniels company for FOX.
